Yellow sapphire was known as “Oriental Topaz” until the end of 19th century. Blue corundum is the only stone called Sapphire. Yellow and greenish yellow sapphires make unusual and attractive in their own right.
Greenish yellow variety found in New South Wales and Queensland in Australia. Purely yellow stones are found in Sri Lanka, Thailand, Montana (USA) and East Africa.
